Slow Speed (ISO 10) Orthochromatic Kodalith style Film. Maximum contrast for masks or special effects in Camera or Enlarger. Red Safelight OK. Can be processed in standard B & W paper developer or A & B developer for higher contrast. Used by many photographers for use in creating highlight masks for fine art printing and for creating enlarged negatives, in a two-step process, for contact printing and alternative processes. While many suppliers and manufacturers have discontinued these products, Photo Warehouse with our Ultrafine Product line, continues a tradition of over 30 years, of supplying traditional photographers, what they need, at prices they can afford!

Ultrafine Ortho Litho Film

Features/Customer Product Specification

Extremely high contrast, orthochromatic (NOT panchromatic) film originally designed primarily for making line and halftone negatives for photomechanical reproduction and can be utilized as a continuous tone film, dependent upon handling, development, Etc..

• Wide exposure and development latitude.

• Produces sharp halftone dots suitable for dot etching.

• Can be used in professional applications for copying line originals, for producing negative slides from line copy (e.g., title slides), and for special effects photography.

• Can also be used for making highlight masks to improve the reproduction of important highlight detail when making duplicates from transparencies or color prints by the dye transfer process.

• Continuous tone applications

Safelight Recommendations:

Use a KODAK 1A Safelight Type Filter/light red or the equivalent, in a suitable safelight lamp equipped with a 15-watt bulb. Keep the film at least 4 feet (1.2 meters) from the safelight. Avoid prolonged exposure to safelight illumination.

ISO / ASA     8 – 10 for general halftone works (Developing in an A & B Type Developer)

ISO/ ASA     10– 25  when shooting continuous tone (Common “Paper” Developer)

When processing you can use a Kodak 1A Safelight to check development. (Do NOT use an Amber Safe Light)

Works with many different normal B&W developers and even Caffenol , for example. These are some real basic guidelines. The film inherently has wide latitude in high contrast applications, and a much narrower window when utilizing as a mid-tone film.
